§ 70-98.84. Parking requirements — PCF.

  • A. 
    Parking shall be provided in accordance with the following requirements:
    Use
    Parking Requirement
    Church, gymnasium, school, and any place of public assembly
    1 space for every 4 persons who can be legally accommodated, plus 1 space per employee
    All other uses
    1 space for every 300 square feet of gross floor area
    B. 
    Where more than one category of use is contained in a building, the off-street parking requirement shall be the sum of the requirements of the floor area devoted to each use.
    C. 
    All areas devoted to off-street parking shall be surfaced in accordance with the specifications of the Town of North Hempstead and shall be comprised of spaces having dimensions of not less than nine feet in width by 18 feet in length. Access aisles shall be a minimum of 20 feet in width. Handicapped accessible parking spaces shall be provided in the number, size and location as required by law.
    D. 
    Parking areas shall be illuminated at night only during the business hours of the buildings which they serve. All lighting fixtures shall be directed away from any adjoining properties and shall not exceed a height of eight feet above grade unless otherwise approved by the Town Board during site plan review. All lighting shall be extinguished within one hour after the close of business. The location, candlepower and type of fixture to be installed shall be first approved by the Town Board during site plan review.
    E. 
    Provision for off-street loading and unloading shall be made on the premises in a location that will not interfere with parking or means of access. Such areas shall be surfaced in the same manner as the parking areas. The area to be allocated for loading and unloading shall be at least 10 feet in width, 25 feet in length and 15 feet in clear height for each principal building or structure.
