§ 10-5. Procedure for designation.

Any person or not-for-profit corporation desiring to designate a secondary honorary name for an existing street or portion of existing street in the Town must file an application and petition with the Highway Department. Upon receipt of a petition meeting the basic criteria set forth in § 10-4, the Highway Department shall submit such petition to the Town Supervisor and the councilperson for the area where the street is located. Following review by the Town Supervisor and councilperson for the area, the councilperson will recommend the Town Board schedule a public hearing to consider the petition. Upon scheduling the public hearing, the Town Clerk shall forward a copy of the petition to the local fire department, police department, and post office.
